Synopsis: On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the "Miracle on the Hudson" when Captain "Sully" Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

I GIVE THIS MOVIE 7 OUT OF 10

My Review:

This was an interesting movie. I vaguely heard about this plane landing in the news back when it happened but I didn't know much about it. What I really didn't know and what a lot of people probably didn't know is what went on after the plane landed. It was shocking to see how much Captain Sully had to go through after he successfully landed the plane. Instead of the hero treatment he deserved, he got interogated about whether the choices he made in the air were the right ones. It is understandable that an investigation would happen after a crash but the extent in which they tried to show that he made the wrong choices was shocking. I felt that the little moments of Sully's backstory were alright but didn't add too much to the story other than furthering the point that he has great piloting skills. His personal life scenes with his wife sort of confused me. It seemed that he was going through a rough marriage but it didn't seem like a factor in his piloting. It probably was intended to garner some sympathy for Sully or even show that he could separate his personal life from work or it was just done to round out the character. Also the brief moments where we saw a bit of the passengers didn't really add anything. I feel that they should have had some more passenger moments to add some human emotions behind the story without taking away from the investigation. Overall, it is a short movie (96 minutes) but really interesting.
