Synopsis: Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey), a dapper Koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal optimist-okay, maybe a bit of a scoundrel-who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now facing the crumbling of his life's ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world's greatest singing competition.
I RATE THIS MOVIE 7 OUT OF 10.
My Review:
This was a pretty cute movie. It combined two things I enjoyed; animation and musicals. However, there were surprisingly not a lot of singing moments despite the title. Also, unlike most singing competition movies this one didn't involve constant practicing and then giving one final performance to land the part but instead focused on six characters as they try to be stars. Each character had a story we've heard before (family that doesn't support their dream, shyness, lack of opportunity to pursue dream, trying to be unique, etc.) but each character managed to garner sympathy and were enjoyable to watch. The animation with this movie was really impressive (particularly the fur) and the voice casting was great. I would have liked to hear more songs in the movie. Overall, the movie was enjoyable.
