Moana

Synopsis: An adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.

I RATE THIS MOVIE 8.5 OUT OF 10.

My Review:

This is by far my favourite recent Disney movie. It has amazing songs, bright beautiful colours, and amazing animation. There is a strong quest story here and honestly I think it has a much better story than Frozen. There could have been more obstacles for Moana and Maui to face before reaching their destination but overall they built a bond that was enjoyable to watch. I really enjoyed the Polynesian setting and the songs are incredibly unique and catchy. Newcomer, Auli'i Cravalho is an amazing singer and she makes Moana such an independent, strong, and gorgeous character to follow on her journey to save her island, discover who she is meant to be, and to do what's right. Dwayne Johnson, aka the Rock as Maui is perfect for animation and he is quite the talented singer himself. His character grows from a selfish, narcissistic individual to someone who cares about others, to someone who owns up to his mistakes, and the hero he has always claimed to be.
