Synopsis: Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and his fellow Guardians (Gamora- Zoe Saldana, Rocket Raccoon- voiced by Bradley Cooper, Drax- Dave Bautista, Baby Groot- voiced by Vin Diesel) are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed.

I GIVE THIS MOVIE 7 OUT OF 10.

My Review:

This movie was incredibly funny, with so many great one-liners (especially from Drax) and Baby Groot was absolutely adorable that every time he had a scene I couldn't help but smile. Visually the movie is stunning as well. The movie does a phenomenal job at giving depth to each Guardian and at giving depth to the team. The movie demonstrated that the bonds between the members is so strong and that they are truly a family. A little more backstory could have been given for Rocket and Drax but I feel that they are strong enough as characters as they are that it isn't really needed. I feel as though Gamora's character in particular has grown as a character and she has matured; now the mom of the group. Also, Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) got a lot more character development which really did justice to those characters. While the movie did a great job with the team it failed in other regards. It no longer felt like a superhero movie, it lacked a real threatening villain for the majority of the movie, and it didn't really expand into the universe that the Guardians of the Galaxy inhabit in the Marvel comics.
