Synopsis: Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival

I RATE THIS MOVIE 6.5 OUT OF 10.

My Review:

A lot of things were left unclear at the end of Prometheus. We didn't really know what the black goo did since every creature was affected differently when they came into contact with it, and we didn't know what David was trying to achieve when affecting Elizabeth. This movie explains the origins of the xenomorph species and all the variations that preceded it. The movie started off intense but then half way through there was a definite lull in pace. The movie needed more action, more threats from the creatures, and more of the actual xenomorph. Katherine Waterston as Danny did an okay job but she always seemed to be tired and way too soft (I haven't seen the original Alien series so I am not comparing her to Sigourney Weaver's Ripley). Michael Fassbender did a good job portraying both David and the newer model Walter (the Covenant's android). I was really surprised by his skill with accents. Overall, it is a good set up piece for further Alien movies.

This website is really helpful for understand the creatures in the Alien universe http://screenrant.com/complete-guide-creatures-alien-movies-xenomorphs-covenant/
