Synopsis: Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

I RATE THIS MOVIE 6.5 OUT OF 10.

My Review:

The cinematography is great. It visually looks like the same person did both films. I never understood why the world in the future that they portray is so dark, ashy, overpopulated, and apocalyptic-looking, but I guess that is the film-noir part of the movie. I would appreciate a short clip or explanation as to how the world got to that point.to provide some backstory. Also, I assumed that with replicants being used as slave labour, that it would mean that humans are living in luxury, but that wasn’t the case which I found to be confusing. There are a lot of twists in this movie which I am fine with but I felt let down in one regard. I won’t spoil what exactly the twist was, but the movie leads you to believe one thing and you become happy for that character, only for a twist to occur and you kind of feel like you wasted all that time investing in that one possibility (sorry for the confusion, I’m trying not to spoil anything). Ryan Gosling did a good job playing his character and gave the performance the right amount of emotional tone. Harrison Ford reprises his role as Rick Deckard and while he does a good job for the brief amount of time that he is in the movie, his character doesn’t exactly feel like the same Rick Deckard we were left with in the first Blade Runner movie. It makes sense that his character would grow from the first movie but it still felt a bit off. Jared Leto was barely in the movie and yet he was supposed to be the main antagonist since he is the one that designs the replicants and is after Harrison Ford’s character/Ryan Gosling’s character. Overall, despite it’s long runtime, the movie is visually appealing, the score is outstanding, and the detective plot (following clues) is entertaining.
